WHAT IS WORKFLOW SIMULATION
?
Workflow simulation is a means of creating a virtual system in order to evaluate a new or existing design before investing or disturbing the existing system. <up>
SIMULATION MODELS A simulation model consists of each element of the system to be modelled and its details. For example; a model of a packaging line might consist of two operators, loading boxes onto a conveyor at 1.5 minutes a box, which would transport the boxes at 1 m/s to a scanner and on a palletising area. <up> Complete data can be collected on any system modelled, and hence alternative designs can be evaluated. For example, in moving from a make to stock company to an Assemble to Order comapny, inventory profiles or stock valuations can be compared.<up> Animation is used both to validate the model and to identify problematic areas. For example, the animation of a backlog of orders at order entry.<up>
